| My Cancer Story:
My problem was a sudden and acute presentation (pain, internal bleeding). The following morning I underwent a total hysterectomy, which includes removal of the ovaries as well. Spent 17 days in the hospital. The surgeon had never run into my type of cancer, she was not even sure it was cancer initially because this type of ovarian cancer is so rare.
After recovery from the laparotomy (largest incision) I underwent a strong chemo regime, IE 1 week for 5 days, 2 weeks off and this was repeated 3 times. I lost all of my hair and the recovery has been very difficult.
I think that I reacted to my diagnosis like anyone would...with shock, disbelief and a feeling that everything was surreal. To describe the effects of chemo is difficult to do to anyone that has not undergone it. |
